Special Purchase Plans

Special Purchase Plans

Department Store Credit departments may offer different incentives to encourage people to use their particular credit card. The incentives may include discounts on purchases for the first purchase only or for all purchases on the first day (or two) of the approved application. The sales associate who opens the account for the cardholder will share the details.

The savvy credit cardholder will know that after the account is setup and approved, and the signup incentive is used, the department store credit department may offer other incentives to encourage the cardholder to make other new purchases. These may include an additional discount off of an advertised sale price, or it may be a cardholder only special for which a coupon must be presented or the store credit card must be used.

The cardholder will also want to be aware of the special offers that department stores offer, especially if there is a big purchase to be made or a big project to be done.

The savvy credit cardholder will be aware of some of the special rules that may apply and they know that whatever information is given by the store sales associates will want to verified on the credit card statement. The store associate may not be aware of other issues that may affect how special purchase arrangements get processed by the credit department.

There is more information regarding special purchase plans in the book “How to Be Credit Card Savvy” which is available online @ http://www.StoreCardSavvy.com
